The Pillars of Health
How eating “healthy” may be making you unhealthy.
What is healthy? We know that we need to focus on our diet, our mental perception, our movement and our supplementation (or medication) and in many cases we might even think that we are doing the right things e.g. eating healthy or taking vitamins that will help us live a longer and more productive life. But how far is this from the truth? To answer these questions, we need to examine the quality of ingredients.
The Diet
It is assumed that fruits and vegetables are perceived healthy, the best things we can eat—even the Canadian Food Guide was changed to promote eating these foods. Unfortunately, the new food pyramid is wrong and politically motivated against the livestock industry, if the order was reversed it would be healthy. Why was it done, to reduce humanities carbon foot print, focusing the problems on animal derived products, their results show that greenhouse gas emissions from the flatulence of cows, sheep, and pigs, and or dairy were three times higher than from the plant-based alternatives, and that plant derived foods, example soy and oat milk require drastically less water use.
But in many cases food quality is not taken into consideration, only the aspect that they contain vitamins and minerals, depending on the quality of the soil. Unfortunately, the situation is more complicated. You will understand this if you watch the Secret Ingredients[1] (it shows the direct link between GMOs and the increase of chronic illness since the late 90s), after which “eating healthy” will definitely change its meaning.
Our food should be as close to nature as possible which means food produced or manipulated in laboratories are definitely not part of the natural options. As an example, artificially created plant-based foods are full of toxins, hormones and made from GMO crops that on the surface appear to be healthy, when in fact they are not. Dr. Janet Maccaro, PhD, in her book “How your food is sown and grown” states, “Our bodies are in a daily fight to defend themselves from the onslaught of chemicals, toxins, and poison that we ingest as we sit down to eat a conventionally grown meal. For the past forty years, we have been consuming vegetables and grains that have been genetically modified and/or sprayed with a “probable carcinogen” named glyphosate.”[2]
Today the plant-based diet includes the Biotech GMO food-based diet that supposes to feed the world with a vegan burger that “bleeds”. Beyond Meat has become a $550 million brand and “the lab technicians at Beyond Meat’s research and development lab in El Segundo, California, are even trained meat sommeliers, and they are constantly innovating on the product.”[3] The health industry has educated the public to eat plant-based foods. People heard the message and now something presented to them as being good (the main ingredients in the original Beyond Burger are pea protein, beet coloring and beet juice to make it “bloody,” and potato starch and coconut oil to create juiciness) but in reality, it is not. It reminds me of the story of the witch giving a shiny red apple to sleeping beauty: it looks wonderful to the eyes but beneath the skin it is poison. Now it’s time to start to think about how eating “healthy” may be making you unhealthy.
Supplements
The importance of understanding the difference between quality food-based supplements versus feed grade, synthetic chemical-based vitamins with additives and fillers is crucial for better health. The fact that synthetic vitamins are only absorbed to the cells at about 20% while organic plant-based vitamins are absorbed at around 95% (since they are taken as real food and absorbed as real food) is only one side of the story. The other side talks about all the negative effects that synthetic products can have on the body, and all those toxic ingredients that these supplements are made of. “The B-Vitamins found in your multi-vitamin supplement or B-Vitamin supplement (One-a-Day by Bayer, Centrum by Pfizer, 5 Hour Energy, along with thousands of others) are synthetic compounds which are actually a by-product of the manufacturing process of certain petroleum products. Believe it or not, the synthetic form of Thiamine (Vitamin-B1) comes from a product called “Grewe Diamine”—a derivative of Coal Tar—and is processed with several harsh chemicals including ammonia and formaldehyde.”[4] This is why natural products (like Next Generation Super Multi-Vitamin) are so important and one of the only ways to supplement your diet for continued health.
The diet ties into sustainable living in terms of health, and not only at the level of an individual but regarding companies as well. At Doctor’s Choice we focus on sustainability, and our efforts were rewarded when we won Supplier Sustainability Award for 2019.
- With Doctor’s Choice, you are assured of receiving the very best. The products contain and meet the highest standards of (cellular absorbable) quality ingredients available anywhere in the world.
- Our formulas are vegetarian, with the exception of our raw tissue gland formulations and digestive enzyme with ox bile.

Living holistically is the key to health. Maintaining the four pillars of health will create a life in a state of balance i.e. consuming non-GMO real food, a lifestyle change incorporating the motivation to exercise, with improved sleep and to be in control of your weight. In culmination, the right mental attitude, make it your own, visualize and focus on what you want to achieve and the behavioral changes will create a renewed life perspective knowing that you have taken back your power and control of your life and freeing yourself from being a ward of the state.
