The Power and Value of a Silver Spray

For thousand of years silver was used for healing and as an anti-bacterial agent by civilizations throughout the word. Before the development of pharmaceuticals, silver was employed as a germicide and antibiotic. To prevent contamination and spoiling, ancient Greeks and Romans stored their water and other liquids in silver vessels. In the Middle Ages, wealthy Europeans used silver utensils to protect themselves from illnesses. The use of some silver preparations survived in mainstream medicine. Among them are the use of dilute silver nitrate in newborn babies’ eyes to protect from infection and the use of e.g. Silvadene®, a silver-based salve, which is in virtually every burn ward in America to kill an infection.

The rise of antibiotic-resistant “super-germs” is largely due to the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. Key causes include:

  • accelerated microbial mutation due to frequent antibiotic exposure,
  • over-prescription of antibiotics for viral illnesses,
  • patients not completing prescribed antibiotic courses,
  • widespread use of antibiotics in animal feed to boost farm profits.

These factors have led to the emergence of dangerous, drug-resistant microbes such as killer E. coli, flesh-eating strep A, drug-resistant tuberculosis, and malaria parasites.

Money plays an important part when decisions on different ways of treatment are made. Interestingly, positive claims on colloidal silver against Ebola could also be corroborated in a 2009 Air Force lab research project. However, this information was never disclosed and the US Government assert that colloidal silver is not a cure or preventative measure for Ebola. FDA approved the Ebola virus vaccine called Ervebo® instead.

A product like Colloidal Silver cannot be patented, and since it treats so many conditions, not too much money can be made so the pharmaceutical industry slowly pushed silver to the curb and instead, created highly profitable drugs. This brought the people to their doctors for treatment instead of self-treatment with various silver compounds. Then heavy metal accumulation became a major issue and since silver is a metal it was grouped with the rest. And then there was the introduction of nanotechnology, using micro amounts to the point they were accumulating in the lungs, the organs and on the brain—the real depth of nanotechnology dangers are still yet to be discovered and disclosed.
