“The untapped potential of using lithium in a homeopathic medium is a very exciting discovery that is well worth the pursuit.”

In 1817, Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson discovered an unknown mineral, and isolates one of its salts. The name, lithium, comes from “lithos,” the Greek word for “stone.”

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, lithium salts were the first drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat bipolar disorder, mania and depression. In clinical practice, I used lithium bound to uracil—a conjugate acid of an orotate (a cell salt) to treat my patient’s mood swings and other mental disorders. The lithium orotate dosage administered was five milligrams three times per day (this is far below the prescribed daily dosage of 1,800 milligrams), and it had great success.

In fact, lithium is not a drug by nature but a mineral like potassium, boron or sodium. It is found naturally at low levels in our water supply. Concentrated lithium levels in water have been linked to longer life expectancy and a reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases. A published study in the European Journal of Nutrition titled Low-dose lithium uptake promotes longevity in humans and metazoans shows that in humans there is “an inverse correlation between drinking water with lithium concentrations and all-cause mortality in 18 neighboring Japanese municipalities with a total of 1,206,174 individuals (B = -0.661.p =0.003).” The study also states that “exposure to a comparably low concentration of lithium chloride extends life span of C. elegans (p=0.047).”

We know from research that Alzheimer’s disease has been linked to an excess accumulation of aluminum within brain cells. Using this logic of having an excess of a mineral, what effect would increasing an insufficient amount of a trace mineral have on the brain? A new study published in Neuropsychopharmacology suggests that lithium may be useful for its anti-aging affects within the brain depending on genetics, indicating a potential use of polygenic risk scoring for the prediction of adult telomere length; longer telomere are related to greater longevity.

In homeopathic medicine it is important to assess the patient and match the medications characteristics to the treatment. Below is the homeopathic profile for lithium.

Lithium homeopathic profile:

Those at the beginning of self-discovery:
• Confused about who they are, sense of self-worth has not been established
• Weak willed and indecisive, delaying decisions, struggle to finish
• Often upset by the insignificant issues, easily afraid and worry
• Seek protection, are afraid of everything unknown, fear standing up for themselves

An impulsive person:

• Quickly changeable, instant doers
• They attempt something new, give up, then try again, or they alternate between different possibilities to see if it will work this time.
• Values, the difference between good and bad seem unfounded, viewing most things in extremes
• Trying to prove themselves, and show their worth in the world
• Don’t think actions through

The untapped potential of using lithium in a homeopathic medium is a very exciting discovery that is well worth the pursuit, and for multiple health conditions. Now you can find Lithium Homeopathic 100% Pure Pharmaceutical Grade and non-GMO at Doctor’s Choice®.
