“Hormone replacement therapy has never been the naturopathic way.”

Success stories with Doctor’s Choice programs are those written by real people. Like the one we spoke about last week, the story of Fred, who discovered that high quality supplements had helped reshape how his life played out in terms of his health, energy and mental capacity. This week we are sharing another story, this time about a patient with an alarming high blood pressure who has been placed on a health protocol.

Before starting the Doctor’s Choice program, Julie, a certified nutritionist, had tried everything but nothing worked. She was seriously considering taking high blood pressure medication. I put her on our Adrenal Gland right away, 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon taken on an empty stomach. While being on another thyroid medication for hypothyroidism, I also placed her on Thyrodine® Thyroid Gland, 1 per day —her thyroid medication only separated by 8 hours. Just a week ago, she reported back at the CHFA East Trade Show that within 2 months her blood pressure has become completely normal. Obviously, she was elated to tell me her success using Doctor’s Choice medication.

High blood pressure or hypertension is interrelated and associated with thyroid gland medication, since synthetic thyroid medication seems to cause hypertension.

There are high risks associated with treating endocrine imbalance with isolated synthetic hormones, such as Synthroid for hypothyroidism. The side effects are associated with lowered cortisol since the adrenal glands are being overworked and this depletion causes added stress which lower progesterone levels. The medical treatment is adrenal medication and added side effects from the treatment. In addition, synthetic thyroid medication causes hypertension or high blood pressure leading to cardiovascular disease. When this occurs, cholesterol medication is given and this opens up more side effects. To properly treat the endocrine system, you don’t need isolated hormones rather endocrine balance, and this is where Doctor’s Choice products shine. You only need Thyrodine® Thyroid Gland to balance the thyroid gland, Adrenal Gland to help adrenal fatigue—which also helps to lower hypertension. Since we don’t have the added hormones, the treatment does not have side effects. In addition, HGH+ is recommended since it has thyroid, adrenal, pituitary glands and is supported by insulin (to help balance the glycogen levels and support the pancreas), safely and effectively delivered in a homeopathic medium.

Hormone replacement therapy has never been the naturopathic way; it is the way of pharma. The body, when brought to a balanced state, has the ability to heal itself. All we have to do is give it safe and effective nutrients free from side effects, just like nature had intended.

The Hypertension—Hypothyroidism Connection

The thyroid gland releases hormones that have wide-ranging effects on the body—especially our heart. According to Dr. Jeffrey Garber, an endocrinologist at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and medical editor of the Harvard Special Health Report Thyroid Disease “more than half of people with normal thyroid function have symptoms of hypothyroidism” [1] that can affect the heart and circulatory system in many ways. Insufficient thyroid hormone slows your heart rate and it also makes the arteries less elastic, so blood pressure rises.

Another study shows that hypertension is caused by hypothyroidism in 3 percent of patients with high blood pressure. Hypercholesterolemia and an increase in fatty acids are also associated with low thyroid function, thus increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.”[2] To investigate the effects, thirty patients were divided into three comparison groups: (1) patients with hypothyroidism and normal blood pressure, (2) patients with hypertension and normal thyroid function, and (3) patients with neither high blood pressure nor hypothyroidism. Participants with hypertension and hypothyroidism had increased aortic stiffness that resulted in a large percentage of the changes in systolic blood pressure. The authors of the study conclude that hypothyroidism causes aortic stiffness and hypertension (usually diastolic).

Secondary hypertension or secondary high blood pressure is often times linked with those on medication, such as synthetic thyroid gland. Secondary hypertension is high blood pressure that’s caused by another medical condition that affects your kidneys, arteries, heart or endocrine system. It can also occur during pregnancy.

With this in mind, it is important that blood pressure is carefully monitored in patients who may be complaining of symptoms of hypothyroidism. But mostly, choosing safe and effective natural medicine in order to treat the core of the health issue is always the best solution to take as it will change your healing pathway, like it changed Julie’s.
