“Nature has a better way.Thyroid treatment must be holistic; acknowledging that each ingredient must be in balance and work synergistically within the body.”

What is absorbed into our cells is far more important than what we consume into the gut. An elaborate buffet may tantalize the eye and brain and be flavored in such a way to trick the senses so that the stomach may be stuffed while the cells are being starved from nutrients.  The same holds true with most things in life. There are no shortcuts and this includes medications taken, be it prescription drugs or vitamins supplements. For a medicine to be beneficial it obviously must improve the state of one’s health without causing further damage, unfortunately this is not always the case. The statement “First, do no harm” is part of the Hippocratic Oath that medical students take, then pray tell, why are properly prescribed drugs the 3rd leading cause of death in America?[1]

A synthetic medication that requires further conversion within the body before being absorbed to the cells is incomplete. If the nutrients needed are in low supply or depleted, a portion of the drug is absorbed and not in its intended form. My hypothesis and if continued could result in a modulating variant and in time may alter the DNA sequencing that make up the gene creating a genetic mutation.[2] This may help explain the rise of Hashimoto’s disease.

In case of the synthetic drug Synthroid, the form most medical doctors prescribe is thyroxine, the prohormone T4, in its inactive form that leaves many patients unwell. Conversion is needed from T4 to its bioactive form T3 which is produced by the thyroid gland. Since the thyroid gland is already compromised, the remainder is produced elsewhere in the body, mainly through conversion by the liver. Here is where it gets complicated, and to keep it simple an enzyme known as enzyme 5′-deiodinase is required needing certain minerals and enzymes for the T4 to T3 conversion.[3]

The human body is very complex and interlinked with the endocrine glands and in order to balance the hormones each gland must communicate with the other. The production of thyroid hormones begins with the hypothalamus gland which relies on thyrotrophin-releasing hormones (TRH).  These hormones stimulate the pituitary gland, which in turn release thyroid stimulating hormones (TSH). This affects the thyroid or the autoimmune thyroid conditions, including mental illness.

The autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid gland), is the most common thyroid disorder affecting 14 million people in the United States alone and remains the most common cause of spontaneous hypothyroidism in areas of adequate iodine intake. Worldwide estimated are between 0.3-1.5 cases per 1000 persons, and it is prevalent with about 90% of those with hypothyroidism; it’s the swing of TSH that affects both hyperthyroidism (high) and hypothyroidism (low) symptoms. Hyperthyroid symptoms may include hyperactivity, anxiety, irritability, disturbed sleep and weight loss, while hypothyroidism causes fatigue, cold extremities, weight gain, irritability and depression. The swings are connected with bipolar disorder, also referred to as manic depression. These are actually masked and connected to being Hashimoto’s disease. Autoimmune thyroiditis is the body’s thyroid being attacked and destroyed, while the damaged thyroid hormones are released into the bloodstream in waves or swings.

Is it any wonder why those taking synthetic thyroid medication get inadequate relief and are dependent for life on several medications? The inactive synthetic T4 conversion must rely on the health of the pituitary, hypothalamus, and the adrenal glands with missing minerals and enzymes in order to balance the thyroid gland, translating into the patient having many unresolved symptoms remaining.[4]

Pharmaceutical promoters treat the symptoms of disease and if there is a hormone imbalance their solution is to give more hormones. This short-sightedness treats the symptom of disease while creating additional symptoms while the root cause of illness remains. And because the treatment recommendation origins with the trusted medical system, hundreds of millions of people continue to suffer. For thyroid disease women are affected 5 to 8 times more than men—this is a crying shame when understand what is happening.

Nature has a better way. Thyroid treatment must be holistic; acknowledging that each ingredient must be in balance and the quality must be USP pharmaceutical grade and work synergistically within the body. Thyrodine® helps balance the thyroid function without hormones by stimulating the body’s thyroid gland to release thyroxin it is both safe and effective even with most prescription medications.
